“Volunteers do not necessarily have the time, they have the Heart” —Elizabeth Andrew
Donating your time as a Hospice Volunteer is likely going to be one of the most significant “gifts” you’ve given. A gift that will not only brighten the days of patients nearing the end of life, but a meaningful gift for their families as well. In addition, our volunteers often report that they gain even more than they give---a truly amazing benefit!
Pacific Point Volunteers play an important role among the Interdisciplinary Team who care for and support our patients and their families throughout San Diego. The unique talents and personalities of our volunteers are carefully matched with the needs of our patients, creating a special bond. Volunteers complete a thorough and comprehensive orientation and training before being matched with a patient. You’ll feel prepared and supported every step of the way!
A variety of Volunteer opportunities are available depending on your interests and availability. Some examples include:
*Patient Companion Visits—spending time with patients sharing stories and reminiscing, listening to
music, playing a card or board game.
*Complimentary Therapies—licensed individuals can provide Reiki, Message, or Pet assisted visits.
*Sewing and Crafting—utilizing your talents to offer families handmade memory keepsake pillows.
*Birthday Celebrations—bringing a smile to a patient’s face on their birthday while presenting them
with a birthday card, song and special festivities
*Administrative/Office work—assisting with various administrative duties at the Carlsbad office
